Advanced Placement courses 

Advanced Placement Art History

Prerequisite: None               Grades: 11-12            1 Honors credit - Yearlong course

 

This class is designed as an introductory college-level course in the history of art. Students will study and examine the major forms of artistic expression from teh past, various cultures, and from recent times.

AP Studio Art 2-D Portfolio Development

Prerequisite: 2D foundations and suggested advanced level courses.  

Grades:11-12              1  Honors Credit - Yearlong course

 

AP Studio Art is a course that expands on previous art experience and is designed for advanced art students who are serious about their art education. AP Studio is formatted follwing the CollegeBoard guidelines allowing student to submit a portfolio in May to earn AP credit.  AP 2-D design and AP Drawing are two seperate courses but students sign up for AP Studio art 2D.  The couse is divided into Breadth and Concentration; students will create 12 breadth pieces 1st semester and 12 concentration pieces 2nd semester. Breadth will consist of a variety of mediums and techniques, where concentration is students choice of a theme they use and materials to create a portfolio to submit in the beginning of May.

AP Studio Art 3-D Portfolio

Prerequisite: 3-D foundations and recommended Advaned 3-D courses.     

Grades: 11-12       1 Honors credit -Yearlong

 

Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art is a courase that expands on previous art experience and is designed for advaned art students who are serious about their art education. AP Studio Art is formatted following the Advanced Placement guidelines allowing students to have the option of submitting their portfolio for AP college credit. Students will develop a breadth consisting of 8 pieces of work 1st semester using a variety of techniques and mediums. Students will than second semester develop their concentration including 10 pieces of work that are based off a theme. All work will be photographed and submitted to College Board in the beginning of May.
